Personal Philosophy

It is my personal philosophy that librarianship at the K-12 level should focus heavily on collaboration with not only the teachers, but with the staff and members of the community as well. Through consistent efforts to incorporate the classroom and community with the media center’s ultimate goal of creating life-long learners and readers, the media coordinator has the opportunity to positively influence academic success and achievement. Assessing the needs of the students, as well as the faculty and staff should be a team effort, with the media coordinator serving as the leader of that team. Creating an environment conducive to learning, socializing, and collaborating, while providing appropriate information, materials, and resources serves as the basis for a successful and useful school media center.
